Our Story

PEK Care International Incorporated is a Charity registered here in WA and Kenya. PEK Care was founded by Paul Kirika who grew up in the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in a tiny town called Loitoktok. Paul then came to Australia in the late 1980’s as a student and happily settled here in Western Australia. Having seen everything that people here in Australia and in the developed world, take for granted, Paul always dreamt of doing something to support fellow members of his native Maasai tribe, fellow Kenyans and Africans as a whole, in order to improve their quality of life, particularly those living in poverty in the rural and remote areas.
His dream became a reality in 2012, when with his fellow Maasai tribesman David Soipei, established PEK Care International, a not for profit organisation registered in Western Australia. They decided on the name PEK, which stands for People Endeavouring to Bless (K Stands for Kubariki which is the expression for “to Bless”). Since being formed, PEK has managed to dig a borehole which provides clean and fresh water to villages in Loitoktok. They have also established a food feeding program, which makes sure that those kids in the program, are supplied with food staples every fortnight. The field workers are also tasked with the duty of making sure that these children are attended to by medical staff when required.
PEK Hopes to expand to other parts of Kenya as well as other African countries in the near future.

To date, PEK has relied on the generosity of Western Australians to fund a suite of critical projects – primarily in Eastern Africa. One example of our work includes provision of hospital beds in rural Kenya where any form of specialised medical equipment is at a premium.
