Mobility Program

Living with a disability is an immensely challenging situation for anyone, in Africa this challenge is compounded by several environmental factors. One of the key factors that increases the difficulty of living with a disability is the lack of medical aids such as wheelchairs. As a result people without wheelchairs have a severely diminished quality of life and often have to miss out on many opportunities.

A recent UNESCO report shows that over 3 million people across Africa require mobility aids but less than 2% have managed to receive the mobility aids they require. We’ve made it our mission to provide wheelchairs to every person in Africa who needs one. Through our partnership with Wheelchairs for Kids we have now manufactured new or collected and reconditioned, transported and donated over 1000 wheelchairs. This has helped to transform the lives of many young people who are now able to physically access education and participate in broader activities within their communities.

The Gift Of Self Reliance

One of the most sinister aspects of losing your mobility is the loss of self-reliance and independence. Without the ability to move it can be extremely difficult for individuals to contribute to the local community, furthermore they often require extensive care to survive.

Unfortunately this problem is often widespread in Africa where access to wheelchairs or other mobility devices is extremely scarce. Our mobility program aims to make access to mobility aids widespread for anyone who needs it, we hope to give everyone their self-reliance and independence back.
